Bill from “Meridian Diagnostics LLC”Lab services, May 8: you owe $62.00
You have never heard of this company. On May 8 your doctor drew blood at a checkup. Your EOB lists Meridian Diagnostics, May 8, patient responsibility $62.00.
What is the right move?
Correct. Not quite. An unfamiliar name is not a warning sign by itself. Doctors’ offices send blood and tissue samples to outside laboratories, which bill separately under their own names. The same happens with radiologists and pathologists you never meet. What matters is whether the date matches care you received and whether the EOB shows the same provider and amount. Here all three line up. A name you cannot connect to any visit is a different matter.
