Bill 2 of 15
Doctor’s office billOffice visit, April 3: you owe $85.00
Your plan’s Explanation of Benefits for April 3, same doctor:
Patient responsibility: $85.00
Same date, same provider, same amount on both documents. What is the right move?
Correct. Not quite. This is what a clean bill looks like. The plan has processed the claim, and the provider is asking for the amount the plan says is yours. When the date of service, the provider and the patient responsibility line up on the bill and the EOB, there is nothing left to check. Pay it by the due date, and keep both documents together in case a second statement turns up later.
