Most changes happen during the annual Open Enrollment Period, October 15 to December 7, for coverage starting January 1. People already in a Medicare Advantage plan get one more chance from January 1 to March 31 to switch plans or return to Original Medicare. Outside those dates, a change requires a special circumstance such as moving out of the plan’s area.
