Letter in the mailIn late January an envelope arrives from the Health Insurance Marketplace. Inside is “Form 1095-A, Health Insurance Marketplace Statement,” listing your plan and a column of monthly dollar amounts. You had a Marketplace plan last year.
Legitimate, a scam, or impossible to tell?
Correct. Not quite. Everyone who had a Marketplace plan receives Form 1095-A early in the following year, by mail and in their online account. It is not a bill and it asks for nothing, but it should not be thrown away. If you received premium tax credits, you need the figures on it to complete your federal tax return, and filing without it can delay a refund. Check that the months and amounts are correct, and contact the Marketplace if they are not.
