You search a plan’s drug list and find your medication on it. What does that tell you?
Correct. Not quite. A drug list places each medication in a tier. Lower tiers usually carry a flat copay. Higher and specialty tiers often carry coinsurance, a percentage of the price, sometimes only after the deductible is met. Codes next to the drug show extra requirements: PA for prior authorization, ST for step therapy, QL for quantity limits. Check the tier and the codes for every medication you take before choosing the plan.
